"Come on____!" Nikolai called from outside your door. "LET ME IN! Let's become ONE!"
"Nikolai PLEASE!" You cried as you hid behind your bed. " Just go away! w-why don't you just go marry someone else?! Like Ivan?! or even Alexsander?!"
It was silent now.
You opened one of your shut eyes to look at the door. The knocking had stopped. the scratching had stopped. The constant begging of marriage had ceased as well.
you hesitated for a moment before you stood, and made your way to the door. The closer you got, the more your heart picked up pace. aby the time you stood in front  of the door you felt as though your heart was going burst out of your chest and fly away.

At that moment you noticed how cold it had gotten. And I'm not talking about little chilly drafty cold. No. I mean stripped nude, and thrown into the arctic waters cold. You didn't like this. It was too quiet.

"N-Nikolai?" you called  secretly hoping he would answer.

This surprised you. you thought you'd be happy Nikolai was gone. But instead it made you nervous that he wasn't responding. This silence was unnerving. You wish he'd say something. ANYTHING!

'Maybe he's talking, but i can't hear him...' you thought.

With that you slowly lowered your head to the door so that your ear was touching the wooden barrier and quietly listened.
Nothing.
Silence.
